When I lost my job as an administrative assistant a few months ago, I decided to try to turn that negative situation into a positive one. Rather than simply looking for another dead-end position at a company that didn't value me, I would take some time to learn new skills so that I would be in demand. I wanted to be able have my pick of employers instead of anxiously waiting by the phone hoping for an interviewer to call me back. That's why I decided to take a legal secretary course.
I have always wanted to work in a prestigious, highly professional environment such as a law firm, but my lack of training prevented me from getting a foot in the door. All of my years of experience as an administrative assistant at a sales office didn't give me the qualifications I needed to work at a law firm. But a good legal secretary course would change all of that in a matter of months. I couldn't wait to get started!
The first thing I had to do was find a quality legal secretary course with affordable tuition. A search on the Internet returned thousands of results, so it wasn't going to be an easy task to pick one out. One thing I had to decide on was the delivery format. It's possible to take a legal secretary course online, through the regular mail service, or in a classroom. All three of those options had their pros and cons. After considering my needs and preferences, I decided to take an online legal secretary course. This would give me the flexibility of studying and learning at my own pace, which is very important to me.
Next, I had to narrow down the available online legal secretary courses by other criteria, such as class content, time minimum time required for completion, certification awarded, reputation of the school, and price. I also wanted to look for a school that provided job placement assistance for graduates of their legal secretary course. Many schools even have good working relationships with top law firms, and act almost like a feeder system for the firms' personnel needs. That would be a great way to get in on the ground floor at a top law firm.
After narrowing my choices based on the criteria listed above, I finally settled on a legal secretary course that sounded very promising. I've been working through the materials for a few weeks now, and even though it's been very challenging, I know that it will also be rewarding in the long run. I can't wait to finish my studies and start my brand new career!
If I can do it, anyone can. So if you're thinking about changing careers or gaining marketable skills, I suggest that you consider taking a legal secretary course. Doing so could lead you into the job you've always dreamed of.

Las Vegas Personal Injury Lawyer
Many people think that things are more or less the same anywhere – that even in a glamorous and dangerous place like Las Vegas, filled with glamor, riches and sudden tragic poverty, things are just about the same as any town in the USA once you get past all of the tourism, the facade of the hotels, the lights, the casinos. But as a personal injury lawyer working in Las Vegas, I can tell you differently. During my career as a Las Vegas personal injury lawyer, I have seen some things that I am quite sure are not going on in main street USA.
When I started out, I was not a Las Vegas personal injury lawyer, but instead was employed at a firm specializing in real estate law. I got into the business as a favor to a friend, who had watched me in court, and knew that I was one of the best. A business associate of his had been injured in one of the casinos – seriously injured, as in laid up in the hospital for 6 weeks – and needed a Las Vegas personal injury lawyer as soon as possible. I was about to see the dark side of my home town.
The judges are suspicious of any Las Vegas personal injury lawyer. Everywhere in the United States, personal injury lawyers specialize in twisting the law to their own advantage, but everyone knows that Las Vegas personal injury lawyers are among the worst. But the things I saw in this trial made me realize just how exciting and bizarre my soon to be new career would be. From the day I took the case on, there was never anything else I wanted to be but a Las Vegas personal injury lawyer.
Apparently, my friends colleague was a heavy gambler with a facility for counting cards, and a temper which did not serve to make his life any easier. He had been kicked out of a casino when they saw him practically running the tables, and when he had refused to go quietly, they had ushered him into a back room under false pretenses, and beaten hell out of him. This was just a matter of routine business. I wasn't the first Las Vegas personal injury lawyer to take on this casino for roughing up customers who had over stayed their welcome, but the casinos are so tight with the city government, they seldom get more than a light fine. But that all changed when I came around.

Legal Employment
In most countries where local employment (or the lack of it thereof!) is high, there has been a movement in favor of legal employment. After all, who could argue with that? I mean, anything legal is bound to have a positive impact in society right? Think well before you answer that. Because, if the trends in these countries is anything to go by, legal employment has actually swelled the ranks of illegal immigrant. Mexico, most of Europe and of course the United States of America are all prime examples of this trend.
How exactly does legal employment impact the economic functioning of economies and countries? To understand this, we must open our eyes to the trends that allow legal employment in the first place. Most countries that have little skilled labor or industry segments that cannot be filled by the local population open up their doors to legal employment. Instances of such countries include Singapore, Australia, parts of the European Union, and even the United States of America. These countries are either unable to fill the positions available with locally available talent or are unable to retain local talent for the pay offered and hence have to resort to legal employment avenues to invite foreigners to take up these jobs. In the case of the applicants too, they normally come from labor intensive countries like India, the Philippines and China and are more often than not ready to take up legal employment in the countries that invite them.
In the normal course of things, the supply of skilled labor and the legal employment opportunities available regulate themselves to produce the best fit for both the parties concerned. Most of the time, this balance is delicate and entails a balancing act on the part of the labor as well as the governments of the countries concerned. But sometimes, due to natural or even manmade conflicts, this delicate balance is disturbed. To take a case in point. The Lebanese conflict hit not just the economy of Lebanon, but also the economies of several countries that had sent labor to Lebanon to take up legal employment there. This is especially so in the case of several countries like Sri Lanka and Philippines, which rely heavily on the remittances by legal employment labor in better off countries. Similarly, the economic downturn in Japan often makes things worse for countries like the Philippines which send large volumes of labor there.

Legal Aid Services
I have worked in the human services field for many years. One of the services that many people do not know about is legal aid services. There are a variety of legal aid services that are available to people in need of legal advice.
Most of the states in the United States have legal aid services. Depending on the size and population of the state the services may be divided by regions, counties or cities. Legal aid services include a wide range of services. Most attorneys will provide a free consultation over the telephone to answer a specific legal question. It is important to make sure that you are consulting with an attorney that has knowledge or expertise in the situation that you are seeking advice in. Do not ask a real estate attorney for legal advice about a criminal matter, and do not ask a criminal attorney about taxes. Each area of the legal service is divided into areas of expertise.
If your need for an attorney goes beyond consultation you will need to hire their services. This is where legal aid services come in. They provide legal advice and representation at a discounted or free rate, depending upon your ability to pay. Legal aid services in some states include public defenders for criminal matters, and in other states the two services are in separate offices. When they are in separate offices the legal aid services usually handle only civil matters, and matters that are in family court. Our local legal aid handles divorces for women that are from households of domestic violence. They will also protect the civil rights of vulnerable adults.
Legal services can be provided free of charge because the attorneys do the work pro bono. Pro bono means that they donate their time to represent the person in court. Many legal aid services also have attorneys that are hired through local or state governments to provide services to individuals in the community. The legal services are needed to protect the rights of the poor and also to insure that everyone has equivalent legal advice. The attorneys that work for legal aid services full time often have very heavy case loads. Due to this there can be long waiting lists to get your turn for services.
Most of the services take your financial information prior to placing you on a waiting list, to insure that you qualify for their services. The legal aid services in your area can tell you what the income guidelines are. The services will also inform you if they cannot handle the kind of case that you need legal representation for.

Personal Injury Attorneys
There are many personal injury attorneys that offer their services when you are injured and need legal consultation. The most important thing in retaining personal injury attorneys is make sure they are reputable and will do their best in whatever attorney needs you have.
If you know an attorney, ask them for a recommendation for someone who specializes in the field of personal injury claims. You can meet with an attorney and ask them any questions that pertain to your case. Some will even offer you an initial consultation.
Make sure they are responsive and show a willingness to answer the questions that you ask. If the attorney is not responsive or unable to answer your questions in the beginning then chances are they will not do these things as the case progresses. If this is the case try another attorney as there are many personal injury attorneys that will handle your needs in a manner which will help you the most.
Another very important area to cover during the first meeting is how the fee schedule is set up. They method of charging fees varies from one person to another. Some personal injury attorneys prefer to take a percentage of your final judgment as opposed to charging an hourly rate. Many times there are other fees though, which can add up quickly, so the best thing to do is shop around and try to get good recommendations.
There is a negative stigma attached to these attorneys as they are seen as “ambulance chasers” and liars who represent people just trying to make a buck of an often bogus injury. This is true in some cases but there are many reputable personal injury attorneys out there whose primary goal is to look out for their clients best needs.
If you’ve watched late night television you’ve probably ran across an advertisement for personal injury attorneys who claim they can get you a great deal of money for your injury. Quite often these firms are the busiest and you may not get the attention you need. On the other hand, they are very experienced and know exactly how to handle your case so both you and they get the best monetary return possible.
Finding someone to handle your injury claim does not have to be a painstaking task as you should be concentrating on healing yourself not picking the right attorney. Many personal injury attorneys do have initial consultations that are free so make sure you feel comfortable with them handling your case. If you don’t have any recommendations you can look on the Internet and in the Yellow Pages to find personal injury attorneys in the area in which you live. The most important thing is to shop around for the right attorney and make sure you find the one that you are most comfortable with handling your specific case.

How To Become A Lawyer
Since I passed the California bar exam and began my legal practice, many people from my hometown have been quite impressed by my climb from humble origins. They ask me “how long does it take to become a lawyer,” or any number of other questions about how to become a lawyer, and you know what I tell them? There are no easy paths to how to become a lawyer. It's not like you can really just study from home and then take the bar exam like those ads on the internet would have you believe. The only way to become a lawyer is to work for it.
You will never figure out how to become a lawyer in the first place unless it is something that you want more than anything. Becoming a lawyer is one of the most demanding career paths that there are. First, there is undergraduate education. You must get good grades to get into a good law school, and anyone who knows anything about how to become a lawyer will tell you: the law school makes all the difference.
But good grades aren't all that you will need to get into a good law school. You will need good scores on the LSAT as well. This means taking an LSAT preparation course, or at least hours and hours of studying on your own. If you don't get a good LSAT, you don't get into a good school. Period. And the LSAT isn't like the SATs back in high school. This is a hard test we're talking about here.
But with the LSATs and the good college grades, you've barely started learning how to become a lawyer. Because this is the part where the work gets difficult. Your first year of law school will be nightmarish, almost guaranteed. There are two reasons for this. The first is that the professors make it this way on purpose. A lot of kids come in thinking that they know how to become a lawyer because they did good in debate class, or studied some nauseating nonsense like political science or economics in college. The professors want to show you that you know nothing. But the other reason why the first year of law school is so difficult is that, simply put, law work is really difficult, and is twice as difficult if you've never done it before. It doesn't get easy – not for years – but it gets easier once your in the swing of things.

Wrongful Dealth Lawyers
One of the most devastating things that can happen to any family is when someone is killed accidentally. It could be the result of a horrific traffic accident or something going amiss in the job place. When someone dies senselessly in this manner the grieving process can be very difficult.
In the case of someone being killed because of the negligence of another it’s important to consider hiring an attorney. Wrongful death lawyers are specialists in the field of accidents causing death and they have the experience and compassion to handle the job.
Finding wrongful death lawyers isn’t difficult. Many of them advertise in newspapers and on television. It’s not uncommon for wrongful death lawyers to also handle injury claims.
You can also look through the local telephone listings to get a sense of the wrongful death lawyers in your community. Many of them offer a free initial consultation. This means that you can meet with them for a specified time and discuss your circumstances. This is a wonderful way to gauge how well you fit with the wrongful death lawyers on your list.
It can also prove beneficial in finding someone who has the experience that you feel you need. Some wrongful death lawyers are more focused on medical malpractice. If someone close to you died while in the care of a hospital, than you’ll want to contact one of the wrongful death lawyers in your area who is experienced in handling cases like this.
There are also wrongful death lawyers who only handle cases that involve vehicle accidents. They have a full and thorough understanding of insurance and traffic laws and can offer you sound advice on how to proceed.
In the past wrongful death lawyers have sometimes been called “ambulance chasers” because they were known to contact the family soon after the injury or death. That’s rarely the case anymore because of the sheer volume of attorneys practicing this area of law.
Many wrongful death lawyers don’t charge any fees upfront to their clients. Instead they waive the usual retainer and work on a percentage basis. When your claim is settled they take a percentage of that amount for their fees.
To this end they will usually sue the other party for as large of an amount as they feel is necessary. Wrongful death lawyers understand fully the meaning of losing someone you love and it’s important to them that their client’s receive as much retribution as possible.

Law Schools
If you want to be an attorney you’re going to have to go to law school. Though it may sound like an easy task once you’ve finally decided to go to law school, it’s not quite so easy. There are hundreds of law schools to choose from, and getting into law schools in the first place isn’t an easy task.
The first thing you’re going to have to do when applying to law schools is to get an undergraduate degree. The subject matter isn’t particularly important; I’ve worked with attorneys who majored in dance and vocal music as undergrads. However, your grade point average is important, and law schools usually favor candidates who show particular strengths in writing and speaking. Don’t bother with a pre-law major; you’ll learn everything about the law you need to know in law school. Major in what you’re interested in.
Once you have an undergraduate degree you still can’t start applying to law schools; you need to take the Law School Admission Test first. The LSAT is offered four times a year, and it’s usually a good idea to take the LSAT in the June a year and a half before you plan on entering school, i.e. if you wanted to start law school in August of 2008, take the June 2007 LSAT. Many students take the LSAT in October, but if you do poorly on the October LSAT you won’t have time to retake the test before you need to turn in your applications.
Once you have your LSAT score it’s time to start applying to law schools. Fortunately, the Law School Advisory Council makes this a relatively painless process, handling applications for virtually all ABA-approved law schools online. You can apply to as many schools as you want, though most will charge application fees between $50 and $75.
Eventually you’ll have to make a decision on what law school you eventually want to attend. This decision often depends on many factors including finances, geography, and reputation. You can find all sorts of law school rankings in various publications and online, and though these ranking systems can give you a good idea of what law schools are highly regarded, the rankings aren’t very scientific and don’t tell you a whole lot about the law schools you may be applying to. One of the best things you can do to help make your decision easier is to visit all of the schools that accepted you, though this can get expensive if you’ve applied to schools on both coasts.

Reasons To Consult A Law Office
There are certain aspects of the law that a regular layman cannot be expected to know, although the presumption is that everyone knows about it. Therefore, one of the first thigns you need to ask yourself in deciding if you should consult an attorney at a law office is: “What’s at stake?”
Look at your finances or liberties and determine if they are in serious jeopardy. If it is, then the obvious answer is that you need legal help from a reputable law office.
